Designing for School Spirit: A Look Inside Our Media Guide Collaborations with St. Pius X and Pace Academy

At Kapp Koncepts, Our seasonal school media guides are among the most rewarding projects we take on. These aren’t just schedules and rosters, they’re keepsakes that capture school spirit and student achievement.

Two schools we’ve had the privilege of working with on an ongoing basis are St. Pius X Catholic High School and Pace Academy. While each school brings its own personality, goals, and traditions to the table, our process is rooted in the same principles: collaboration, attention to detail, and thoughtful design.

St. Pius X – Celebrating Every Season

For St. Pius X, we design three media guides annually: fall, winter, and spring. These guides serve as a comprehensive resource for their athletic programs and school community.

Each edition features:

• A full-color cover featuring an image of the seniors from that season’s sport, with standout athletes, bold typography, and the school’s signature colors.
• Interior pages in crisp black and white, offering a clean, timeless presentation while remaining cost-effective for the school and its community.
• Team group photos and individual headshots of athletes and coaches across all seasonal sports.
• Detailed game schedules and team rosters to keep fans, students, and families informed and engaged.
• Letters from school leadership—including the Principal, President, and Athletic Director—sharing insights, encouragement, and reflections for each season.
• Historical and mission-focused content, highlighting the legacy and values that make St. Pius X a cornerstone in the community.
• Ad coordination and custom ad design, ensuring all sponsor materials are sized correctly, visually aligned with the overall layout, and professionally presented.

We collaborate with the St. Pius X team to format and design ads, ensuring every sponsor looks great and each edition feels cohesive and true to the school’s spirit.

Pace Academy – Bold, Full-Color Storytelling

Pace Academy’s media guide is a visual standout for each season.  With its vivid, full-color design throughout, it’s created to make a bold statement—and it does.

Each edition includes:

• Full-color layouts throughout, allowing for dynamic visual storytelling and maximum impact.
• Full-bleed, high-resolution photography that gives each page a bold, modern feel and captures game-day moments, team portraits, and candid campus life.
• Coach bios and athlete highlights, giving readers insight into the people behind the programs.
• Detailed game and event schedules, organized for easy reference.
• Booster club messaging and school announcements, connecting the wider Pace Academy community with its athletic department.
• Sponsor ad coordination and custom ad design when needed, ensuring all placements are well-integrated and on-brand.

From Design to Delivery – A True Collaboration

For both schools, our work goes beyond layout. We partner with a trusted local printer to ensure every guide is sharp, accurate, and print-ready. From paper to press, every detail is carefully managed.

Each guide is a true team effort bringing together school staff, booster clubs, sponsors, and our design team to create a piece that celebrates students and strengthens school spirit.
